You may feel relatively clear about the reason for seeking help, for instance wanting support in dealing with a specific issue such as a bereavement, divorce, relationship difficulty, redundancy, health or work issue. You may want help with depression, anxiety or low confidence or you may be struggling to like yourself.

Or perhaps you just feel stuck or have a sense that something isn’t quite right and want time and space to reflect on your life and where you are going.

 

Working together

I provide a space where you can explore whatever is troubling you, safely and in confidence. I won’t give advice, but I will help you explore your thoughts and feelings and make sense of your difficulties. 

 

The way I work recognises that many of our current difficulties can be traced back to experiences in our past. These experiences can continue to affect the way we feel, think and behave in the present without us realising it. They can have a powerful influence on how we feel about ourselves, and can impact on our relationships with others. 

 

Length of therapy

The length of time we decide to work together will depend on a number of factors, including the nature of the issues you bring and what you hope to achieve. For example, our work may be short-term (perhaps a few weeks or months), focusing on a single issue to help you though a specific life situation. Should the issues you want to work on be more complex and deep rooted we may work over a longer period of time in an open-ended way.

 

Initial meeting

In the first instance we will arrange an initial consultation appointment. This way you can get an idea of how I work and if I am the right therapist for you. The session will be an opportunity for you to talk about what's going on for you and for both of us to get an understanding of what may help. If I feel I’m not the most appropriate person to help I will try and suggest someone more suitable. 

 

If we do decide to work together we will arrange a day and time to suit us both. I see people on a weekly basis and sometimes twice a week, usually at the same time each week. The sessions are 50 minutes long. 

 

Fee

I charge £52 per session. Please talk to me if you are on benefits or a low income as reduced rates may be available.
